Dear melchizedekau, OK, I'll bite. I believe that the Lord wants His people to build His church in the pattern first given, that of simplicity and obedience and faith. Israel wanted to build their religion of self-righteousness and earthly glory. That is why they could not recognize Jesus as the Messiah. He spoke of faith, obedience, and simplicity. I believe that this book represents to us a call to return to the Lord in repentance. Our ways are petty and legalistic, the church is divided in much the same manner as the days of Christ, all believing their complicated sets of rules and doctrines to be superior to all the others. None are willing to receive a suggestion that God's will is simpler than 'their way,' bringing all to an impass. "Let's agree to disagree" is a code for "Let's keep on in the status quo, and stick to our own camps."
"'The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,' says the Lord of hosts,' and in this place I shall give peace,' declares the Lord of hosts."Haggai 2:9 I believe this passage says to us today that the coming age will have more glory (faith, unity, fellowship) than the early church. In Christ Jesus.

OK, no biting, melchizedekau. What do YOU think? 1)about Haggai? 2)about my answer? I am also interested in knowing the ideas and opinions of those in Christ, that the Holy Spirit would use them to teach me, too. Blessings in Jesus. |

Greetings Ethan!
Are you and melchizedekau the same person? I ask this question since you have stated that 'you' were "talking about Gods house..." and you are most obviously referring to a post that was authored by melchizedekau. Thanks in advance for the clarification.
Blessings to you,

Hag 2:5 According to the promise that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit stands and abides in the midst of you; fear not.

Temple in Rev 4? |

Greetings Nolan! Do you think that Revelation 4 is a first peek at the Heavenly Temple? John is caught up into Heaven and describes the Throne of God and the worship taking place there. Comments? |

Hag 2:9

Scripture ... Rev 7:15, 11:19, 15:5, 16:17 ...
Mommapbs, greetings. Let me comment
Rev 7:15 could connect the throne and temple ... Rev 16:17 does show a connection. However I do not see the Temple being opened until later (11:19, 15:5). So I say no.
A side note when worship is mentioned in Revelation, it is bowing low before God, who has absolute rule over them. There will be activities before and after ... and they even say things as they are in the worship position.

Temple in Rev 4? |

|
Hag 2:9
|
| |
Greetings Mommapbs!
Revelation 4 is describing the Throne Room of God! Yes, it is most definitely describing heaven, or the place where God most certainly dwells, the Holy of Holies!
Barnes' Notes on the New Testament suggests..
"The visions open (#Re 4) with a Theophany, or a representation of God. John is permitted to look into heaven, and to have a view of the throne of God, and of the worship celebrated there. A door (yura or opening is made into heaven, so that he, as it were, looks through the concave above, and sees what is beyond, He sees the throne of God, and him who sits on the throne, and the worshippers there; he sees the lightnings play around the throne, and hears the thunder’s roar; he sees the rainbow that encompasses the throne, and hears the songs of the worshippers. In reference to this vision, at the commencement of the series of symbols which he was about to describe, and the reason why this was vouchsafed to him, the following remarks may be suggested..." [But I won't post all 6 reasons here. :-)]
Blessings to you,
Nolan

Hag 2:12
|
| |
Greetings guitar01!
Here is a little commentary on Haggai 2:12-13...
"2:12 The first question is: Since a man who is carrying holy meat, that is, meat for a sacrifice, is sanctified (cf. Lev. 6:27), can he transfer that sanctification to things he touches? The answer is, No." (1)
"2:13 The second question is: Since a man who touches a corpse is defiled, does he transfer that defilement to other things he touches (cf. Num. 19:11-13)? The answer is, Yes. The point of these two questions is this: Sanctification or cleanness cannot be transferred, but defilement can (just as health is not contagious, but disease can be). The disobedience of the people was like a dead thing in their midst, contaminating all of them (v. 14)." (1)
Blessings to you,
Makarios
