Is there a passage that refers to tying a rope around the priest to drag him from the holy of holies should he die there? I cannot find the passage. |

Dear Nolan,
Brother, this was a challenge! I have heard this before, too, but have never heard a Scripture reference.
Apparently, the tradition started after the Law, and before the New Testament.
"And the former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers, because they were prevented by death from continuing," Hebrews 7:23 NASB and,
"...who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins, and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself." Hebrews 7:27 NASB.
It seems that some of the sacrifices offered for their own sins were not accepted!
This is a good starting place. Anyone else?
