 Question:
what does chapter 5 -13 mean
 Answer:
Hi, catholic...

Welcome to the forum!

Galatians is dealing with the problem of people teaching that one must add behaviors to the work of God to make it effective. Specifically, they were calling people to walk in the various aspects of the ceremonial and dietary laws of Moses. Paul points out the addition of works demolishes grace, turning a gift into a wage. Christians are liberated to walk in good works as a consequence of redemption. Any human's good works would be utterly inadequate to achieve righteousness. Christ's works were utterly righteous -- in commission and omission. God applies that righteousness to us unto redemption. Consequently, we are liberated to live in our new nature. In this, we are not to please ourselves, let alone make accommodate our flesh, but rather to make use of our liberty for the benefit of others.

I hope that helps. Ask me if any of the terms that I used need explanation.

In Him, Doc
