Bible Question:  When Moses and the Isrealites were in the wilderness the people complained they wanted meat ro eat. Why didn't they slaughter some of their stock and eat that?

Bible Answer:  The number of Israelites in the desert is estimated to numbered well over a million. If they began to eat their herds they would have nothing to establish livestock when they got to the promise land. Plus I imagine the live stock did supply milk and other by products which it could not if it was eaten.

Even a large herd would be quickly eaten by over a million people.
