Hi Makarios, I believe that the word of (God)
is tested and tried.
Psalm 18:30, "As for God, His way is blameless; The word of God is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him."
2 Samuel 22:31, "As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the Lord is tested; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him."
I see those verses as a perfect match even though the Psalm is not matched or quoted the same in 2 Samuel.
1) How do you compare Proverbs 16:4 and 33 with 2 Samuel 22:33?
2 Samuel 22:33, NASB, "God is my strong fortress; And He sets the blameless in His way."
2 Samuel 22:33, NKJ, "God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect."

The word "commit" in Proverbs 16:3 is literally "roll" as in the Amplified version above. What does it mean to roll your works to the Lord?
How does our understanding of that word "roll" relate to the next verse where it says that everything has been made for His purpose?
How active is God in our ways and plans (relating these verses to Romans 8:28 for instance)? Does He make even our enemies to be at peace with us? (See Proverbs 16:7).
Romans 8:28, "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Proverbs 16:4, NASB, "The Lord has made everything for its own purpose,..."
Proverbs 16:4, NKJ, "The Lord has made all for Himself,..."
Does the Amplified say it well, "He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will."

In the literary style of the NASB and the NKJ, the "He makes" in the verse is capitalized. However, because of this style of capitalizing after a comma or especially a semi-colon, the word (although capitalized) is not always talking of Deity. What is your interpretation in this verse?
I believe that God is active and doing things with us, so I would also capitalize the "He" as talking about Deity.
MacArthur in his notes for this verse talks about "persecution" and connects these passages for consideration: 2 Timothy 3:12, John 15:18-21, Acts 14:22-27.
What are your thoughts about persecution and can all of this be connected to Proverbs 16:4 and how we interpret that verse as well?

This is a question for a Hebrew scholar perhaps. Which translation do you prefer for Ezekiel 36:23?
NASB, "I will vindicate the holiness of My name which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord," declares the Lord God, "when I prove Myself holy among you in their sight."
NKJ, "And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord," says the Lord God, "when I am hollowed in you before their eyes."
"When I prove Myself holy among you in their sight." OR "When I am hollowed in you before their eyes."

The 1977 NASB copyright for Job 34:32 reads, "Teach Thou me what I do not see; If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more?"
With the l995 copyright using "You" instead of "Thou" it would be awkward to render it, "Teach You me what I do not see." I believe that the new copyright did well in changing the verse to read like the Amplified and the NKJ.
I have learned sometime through the years to compare this verse with John 7:17.
John 7:17, "If any man is willing to do (His) will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of **God, or whether I speak from Myself. 18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory;..."
Job 34:31, "For has anyone said to (God), 'I have borne chastisement; I will not offend anymore; 32 Teach me what I do not see; If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more'?
33 "Shall **He recompense on your terms, because you have rejected it? For you must choose, and not I; Therefore declare what you know."
The parentheses and ** are mine for comparisons.
1) Does a comparison of these verses help you in deciding the reading for Job 35:3? "For you say, 'What advantage will it be to You? [Marginal note, Or, you] What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?"
Should it be You or you for Job 35:3?

In regard to the Lord lifting Himself up, there are two other places where the context and the translation will allow His being lifted up.
1) Isaiah 33:3, NASB, 1995, "At the sound of the tumult peoples flee; At the lifting up of Yourself nations disperse."
Isaiah 33:3, NKJ, "At the noise of the tumult the people shall flee; When You lift Yourself up, the nations shall be scattered."
I personally would go with the extra pronoun of the NKJ.
2) Isaiah 33:2, NASB, 1977, "O Lord, be gracious to us; we have waited for Thee. Be Thou their [Some versions read our] strength every morning, Our salvation also in the time of distress."
Isaiah 33:2, NKJ, and 1995 NASB, "Be their strength every morning, Our salvation also..."
I would go with the extra pronoun of the 1977 NASB with perhaps a modern rendering of the 'You' such as, "May You be their [our] strength every morning, Our salvation also in the time of distress."
This is all related to the "who or what is the stability of our times?" Any comments or observations?

The marginal note for 2 Samuel 16:12 in my NASB Study Bible reads [Lit. the Lord will return]. This is an example to my mind of the desirability of the literal reading (even if it is a more "wooden" or stiff rendering).
2 Samuel 16:12, NKJ, "It may be that the Lord will look on my affliction, and that the Lord will repay me with good for his cursing this day."
I have learned to compare/contrast this verse with Isaiah 45:7. Any comments?

Colossians 1:14 revisited; reference #137300.
In comparing Colossians 1:14 with Ephesians 1:7 I agree with the TR text and the addition of "through His blood" for Colossians 1:14. I would then see the passages as a perfect match.
Colossians 1:14, In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Ephesians 1:7, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses,..."
Any thoughts?

For John 12:42, where it is translated, "they were not confessing [Him]," how much is the pronoun implied?
Could it also be translated, "they were not confessing their belief", or "confessing their faith?"

John 3:16 says that God gave His Son, so the Son is a gift. John 14:16 says that the Father will give another Helper, the Holy Spirit; so the Spirit is a gift.
What gift do you see in John 4:10? "Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."
